Location: Oxford Conference Center, located at 102 Ed Perry Blvd, Oxford, MS 38655 (USA)
Date: April 24th – 27th, 2023
The National Center for Natural Products Research (NCNPR) within the School of Pharmacy at The University of Mississippi is pleased to announce another international conference on important botanical quality and safety issues.
This conference is supported by a cooperative agreement between the NCNPR and the Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN) at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). It is co-sponsored by the Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica/ CAS, China; the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR – India); the Ministry of Indigenous Medicine, Sri Lanka; the American Society of Pharmacognosy (ASP); the Society for Medicinal Plant Research (GA); the Korean Society of Pharmacognosy (KSP) and the Japanese Society of Pharmacognosy (JSP).
The function of this conference is to review, discuss, and explore the confluence of current research topics in natural product chemistry, pharmacognosy and botanicals. Topic areas will include authentication of botanical identity, cultivation, collection, post-harvest practices for producing quality plant materials, as well as an exploration of chemical and toxicological methods regarding botanical quality/safety assessments.
Each session will open with a plenary speaker outlining the current approaches, limitations, and research needs of the topic area. Speakers are leading researchers from industry, academia, nonprofit institutions, trade associations, and government. The tremendous opportunity for international exchange among these representatives, participants, and students on important and timely scientific botanical issues is a hallmark of this event.
Topics Include:
- Cultivation, Collection and Post-Harvest Practices to Assure Production of Quality Raw Botanical Materials
- Authentication, Identification and Purity Assessments of Botanical Raw Materials, Ingredients, and Products
- General and Specific Approaches Toward Establishing the Safety, Efficacy, and Quality of Botanicals with Modern Technologies
- International Regulatory Approaches for Safety Assessments and Adverse Event Reporting (AER) for Botanical Products
